Learning reflection



            This course is very important for me and it always helps for daily life such as reading and understanding with English passage. It always helps for reading test so much because there are many techniques like a how to find markers from Comparison and Contrast's lesson, Cause and Effect or other lessons, Observing language features general, it helps you to know about the type of text or passages. Although in this course very important but it also difficult. It sometimes makes me stressed.


             For me the hardest lesson is Problem and Solution although, a passage or texts can understand easier than narrative but it's too hard for think and writes answer because you have to have many vocabulary and grammar knowledge for do it.

             There're many difficult lessons such as Narratives, Cause and Effect, Comparison and Contrast etc. 












             At last, I must to give thanks to the teacher who's teach this course because she taught and made me to have many knowledge like techniques, vocabulary, grammar.

             In additional she usually teaches about daily life or how to be a good teacher in the future. I got many doctrines from her the one from all I'm loved, it is she told "I am a normal teacher who's never hasn't wicked intentions to you, I have just taught you in everything's best for you."  I promise, I will not forget every doctrine.

Week 14 : Problem and Solution (continued)


            This week was the last day that I studied a discourse approach in reading subject with teacher Usa Noytim. Teacher has been teaching from last week, she answered exercises. There're 4 passages on exercise 1 and, it want us to write the title, and the sentence explaining about the main idea of the passage.  





        First passage is about "Way to Address Machine gun Overheat and Malfunction Problem", It's the most passage of all.
        Second passage about "How to Prevent Amnesia", Amnesia refer to complete or partial memory loss.
       Third passage's about "How to Prevent Road's Accident by Changing the Minimum Driving Age."
       Fourth passage's about "How to Save Cyclist From Road Accidents."
After that, she answered exercise 2 and we are presented the VIDEO
 of each group after finish lesson and finish class.

Week 13 : Problem and Solution



            In the class, the teacher introduced about this lesson, it about "Problem and Solution".

         After that, we set tables for mini-test. It took a time for 1 hour and it's very difficult for me. I couldn't understand with the passages on mini-test.

Week 12 : Exemplication


         In class, The teacher assigned to checked and answered homework last week.
      After that, The teacher introduced about "Exemplification".

  
 Exemplification is writing uses specific, vivid examples for the purpose of adding more information to explain, persuade, define, or illustrate a general idea.

Week 11 : Definition and Classification



          In class, teacher gave the new handouts and talked to introduce new lesson about Definition & Classification. "What’s the definition marker?" she asked all students and, need to us found and told about it.

Week 10 : Cause and Effect

            In class, teacher have a meeting so she gave Cause and Effect's handout and assigned to read, understood and make all exercise. She will back at 9.00 am.

Cause/Effect is used to show how the or concept result due to other facts, events or concept. Words that signal this type of text structure are because, as a result of, thus, and hence.

Week 9 : Comparison and Contrast (continued)

          Last week, I had studied about Comparison and Contrast but it haven't completed. Today, I studied it continued.
          We started to learn on page 37. The teacher explain about text 2 and do exercise on page 38.
         After that, the teacher assigned to read and understood the text about " Men and Women: Do They Speak the Same Language? ". And, then she helped to find discourse markers. And, then teacher summarized this text.

Week 8 : Procedure (continued) and Comparison & Contrast



             Last week, I had studied about Procedure but it haven't completed. Today, I studied it continued.

       The purpose of  Procedure is to tell the reader how to do or make something. The information is presented in a logical sequence of events which is broken up into small sequence steps. Usually writes in the present tense.


      Text organisation
• Goal (often indicated in the main heading and /or diagram)
• Materials (listed in order of use)
• Method (steps oriented towards achieving the goal)
 After that, The teacher ordered to make exercise page 34.
    I did exercises in lesson. This lesson is short and easy to understand. You can see many things from this lesson on your daily  like a Game instructions, How to use microwave television etc.



             The teacher gave Comparison & Contrast's handout and, then she explained about it and she told about the comparison or similarities markers as a

Week 7 : Procedure

              On Monday 20th, I had studied about the Procedure in the morning. The teacher told us to talked about food with my friend and then teacher opened VIDEO "How to make omelet".
She ordered to write the word that hearing.

      She explained about How to make a Banana shake with the ingredients then she showed recipes Banana cake then she told us to match sentences with collect pictures of the omelet method.

                 Last week, I had studied about Descriptive but it haven't completed. Today, I studied it continued. First, teacher assigned to check and, then she answered homework and found words there're describe the Komodo Dragon together. she assigned to read 3 texts. First text was about the Budapest, it's about the attention tourism of Budapest etc.

             It's very interesting and made inspiration to me. Budapest, which two parts of the city. There're two include Buda and Pest. Buda is the oldest part of the city, there're : Gothic houses, Buda Castle, Citadel, The National Library, The Museum and the National Gallery.
               Next text, Prague, it was amazing one. This text described Prague: The Charles Bridge and Prague castle etc. And the illuminated landmarks were the most memorable sights in Europe.

              Finally, the teacher assigned to make group of 5-6 and write a paragraph to describe a person you know. Then read the paragraph in front of class.

   ○ The difficult point is the name of place from lesson because I hadn't ever known it before.
   ○ Easy points are vocabulary excluding the name of place and each of texts are easy to understand.

           At class, the teacher started to introduce new lesson. It's descriptive: it's a text which says what a person, a thing or place is like.

◘ Purpose: to describe and reveal a particular person, place or thing. This kind of text helps us visualize and understand a topic.

◘ Generic Structure Descriptive text has structure as below:
◘ Identification is to identifying the phenomenon to be described.
◘ Description is to describe the phenomenon in parts, qualities, or/and characteristics. 

Language feature
  Using attributive and identifying process.
 
Using adjective and classifiers in nominal group.
 
Using simple present tense.

Question ask as we read: (it helps me so much when I read).

Week 4 : Narrative (continued)

             Week4 on Monday 25, January 2016. Today I learned about "Narrative; Secrets by Tim Winton-part two." to continue last week. When the class began, the teacher told us to read the story of Secrets' part two and did the exercise.

             The story about Kylie took the lid of the well. She goes down to the well with her album every day. One day, she normally does her routine, but Phillip's going to work at the back of the yard and found her, then he hit and rebuke her. Its makes she said and cry. She is doing cruel things. Then, she needs to bring the box's chick, but a thin hen hindered her , and therefore, she kicked and beat it with a piece of wood and, while it stunned. After that, she dropped the chicks into the well. After that, she's left herself alone in her room and cut heads' photos of her album.

Week 3 : Recount (continued) and Narrative

    This class, Teacher answered home work in lesson 2 (Recount) and she assigned to make group of 3 for discuss and summarize about Investigation report.
     The story was about “There were a woman and a boy. They drove too fast so they were stopped by the police. The police asked them to see their license, but They pretended not to understand what the police was asking for. And the truck wasn’t theirs. Finally, they could escape because the police was struck in the mud.”

      After that, the teacher gave new handouts. It's about Narratives, I'm used to hear that from the Introduction of Literary course, but I can't remember what it means. 


Then I search meaning of it. It's mean "A spoken or written account of connected events."


Purpose:  the basic purpose of Narratives is to entertain, to gain and hold the reader's interest in a story.
Types: They're typically imaginary but can be factual as a fairy story, mysteries, science fiction etc.

Text Organization:  Narratives usually begins with an orientation, where the writer attempts to sketch in or create the "possible world" of this particular story.


     The story is pushed along by a series of event, during which we usually expect some sort of complication or problem to arise.

Language Features: 
Specific, often individual participants with defined identities. Major participants are human, or animals with human characteristics.
Normally past tense.
Many liking words to do with time

Week 2 : Recount

          Today, I'm late because the bus was run delayed. She gave a handouts about Recount so, I haven't ever know about it before. I wish it's not too hard for me. Recount is the unfolding of a sequence of events over or reconstruct past experience etc.

          Purpose of Recount : to tell what happened.   
          Types of Recount :  
      1.  Personal Recount - retelling of an activity that the writer/speaker has been personally involved in (e.g. diary entry etc).
      2. Factual Recount - recording the  particulars of an incident (e.g. report of a science experiment, police report, news report etc). 
      3. Imaginative Recount - taking on an imaginary role (e.g. a day in the life of Roman slave; how I invented...)

holiday. My holidays was fantastic. I visited some great places. I went to 
Phetchaburi Province. I visited the Cha-am. Cha-am is the famous sea in Phetchaburi..
